Card Transaction Rejections
Error Message: “Check status on card, contract or carrier”
Definition: Either the card, contract, or account is inactive or on hold. Tell the customer that the card is inactive unless they are the carrier with valid credentials!
Error Message: “Error Code: 3 INACTIVE CARD | Inactive Contract”
Definition: The contract status is inactive, causing all cards to decline until this is resolved.
Error Message: “Check status on card, contract or carrier: Inactive card: IBM safer payments”
Definition: This occurs when a cardholder issues a large volume of registered checks or cash advances in a day.
Error Message: “CheckCvc1McFleet failed: Invalid CVC”
Definition: The incorrect CVC code (3-digit code on the back of the card) was entered.
Error Message: “Checking Not Allowed”
Definition: The cardholder is attempting to withdraw company Cash Advance from Checking.
Error Message: “Duplicate Invoice
Invoice Already Authorized for $$ | DupTransCheck”
Definition: A transaction with the same invoice number has been authorized on this card, at this location, within the past 7 days.
Error Message: “Error 20: System Error
SYSTEM ERROR: Third Party Denial:”
Definition: This rejection happens when we have a customer linked to a TA discount, but TA doesn't have it set up the same way (or vice versa).
Error Message: “Error 30: Buffer exceeded on fuel transaction
FUEL LIMIT BUFFER EXCEEDED”
Definition: DO NOT tell the cashier/driver this! The company has some credit available, but not enough to fund the transaction.
Error Message: “Error 4: Invalid card number
INVALID CARD: Invalid Zipcode/Address:”
Definition: This error message occurs on SmartFunds & MasterCard transactions when the Address and/or ZIP Code do not match what is being entered at the point of sale or online via the "Billing Address"
Error Message: “Error 46: Check exists - bad check amount
AMOUNT IS INVALID | Invoice Totat = salesTax or is $0”
Definition: The Transaction Total field cannot be left blank. This error means the amount has been left at $0.00.
Error Message: “Error 93: Card lock for Shell Cards
UNKNOWN ERROR: ”
Definition: The card has been swiped too many times and has been locked. This will be locked for up to 15 minutes. This error does not necessarily mean the card is a Shell card.
Error Message: “Error Code: 20
SYSTEM ERROR IN0019573441|No Carrier Data Available|”
Definition: This rejection happens for customers that have enabled Secure Fuel on their account. We did not receive GPS data within the alloted timeframe, so the transaction was declined.
Error Message: “Invalid Card #”
Definition: The card number is invalid.
Error Message: “Invalid Location for customer”
Definition: The company has blocked this location from their allowed locations list
Error Message: “Invalid PIN”
Definition: The PIN was either not entered or the incorrect PIN was entered
Error Message: “Invalid Truckstop for customer”
Definition: The merchant does not accept the card
Error Message: “Invalid ZIP or address”
Definition: The incorrect ZIP code or address was entered
Error Message: “Maximum Quantity for (fuel item) is XX Gallons”
Definition: The card has exceeded the available gallon limit for the item attempting to be purchased.
Error Message: “McFleet Daily Transaction Limit Error”
Definition: The card has reached a velocity limit ($$ amount or transaction count).
Error Message: “Error Code: 37
DAILY DOLLAR AMOUNT LIMIT EXCEEDED|Exceeded Daily Amount Limit|”
Definition: The cardholder has reached the daily velocity limit.
Error Message: “Rejected Unit Number”
Definition: The unit number entered is incorrect
Error Message: “Error Code: 68
UNKNOWN ERROR|Daily Code Limit”
Definition: Companies are set up with a daily amount they can use of their available credit on Money Codes & Registered Check transactions. This error means they have reached that limit for that day.
Error Message: “Error Code: 1
INVALID TRUCKSTOP|Failed restrictions|”
Definition: This is due to the chain or location group being blocked as not authorized
Error Message: “Error Code: 18
ITEM NOT ALLOWED|ATM not allowed|”
Definition: The customer does not allow ATM withdrawal at the card, policy or contract level.
Error Message: “INVALID PIN NUMBER | Dynamic card data is stale”
Definition: "The company has enabled Dynamic Prompt for this card.
The prompt is only valid for 15 minutes."
Error Message: “CheckCvc1McFleet failed: Invalid CVC”
Definition: The incorrect CVC code (3-digit code on the back of the card) was entered.
Error Message: “INVALID PIN NUMBER|Dynamic card data is missing|”
Definition: This is caused by the cashier inputting the dynamic prompt into the wrong in the PIN Number field and NOT the Control or Trip Number field
Step Reminder: Always check the
"Rejections" tab on the website when troubleshooting card issues. This tab often provides more accurate information.
For example: A recent issue was initially attributed to the truck stop, but the "Rejections" tab clarified the actual reason as "Merchant Position Too Far."
